The Woodlands is a perfect 10-0 against Conroe since September of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Highlanders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Saturday, The Woodlands was fully in charge, breezing past New Caney 55-21. With the Highlanders ahead 38-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
The Woodlands relied on the efforts of Jason Haskins, who gained 119 total yards and five touchdowns, and Jack Daulton, who rushed for 118 yards and one touchdown. Daulton really tore up the turf during one magnificent 96-yard run.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: The Woodlands was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 304 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to The Woodlands' defense and their four sacks. In that department, Magnus Herndon was the leader with three. Another thorn in New Caney's side was Luke Podowski, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made five total tackles.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Conroe, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They really took it to Caney Creek for the full four quarters, racking up a 50-0 win. The Tigers have beaten the Panthers the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.
Conroe's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for The Woodlands, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
The Woodlands strolled past Conroe in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 by a score of 21-7. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Tigers' Dramekco Green, who rushed for 166 yards and one score while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Highlanders to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
