Camp Verde is 9-1 against Chino Valley since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Camp Verde Cowboys will head out on the road to face off against the Chino Valley Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Camp Verde focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
In what's become a running theme this season, Camp Verde gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They blew past Wickenburg, posting a 67-29 victory at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Camp Verde has posted since December 27, 2023.
Camp Verde's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Mcmahon-fullmer, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Mcmahon-fullmer hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Julian Perez was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds.
Chino Valley suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Monday. They were outmatched by Northwest Christian on the road and fell 68-28. While losing is never fun, Chino Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while Northwest Christian is ranked 86th).
The victory makes it two in a row for Camp Verde and bumps their season record up to 12-8. As for Chino Valley, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-8.
Camp Verde strolled past Chino Valley in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 55-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for Camp Verde since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
