Hudson and Coxsackie-Athens are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Bluehawks will head out on the road to face off against the Riverhawks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hudson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Hudson hadn't beaten Chatham on the road since May 12, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Bluehawks walked away with a 9-6 win over the Panthers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bluehawks.
Gannon Logue made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Hudson: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Ryan Conte was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Amarion Perry, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Coxsackie-Athens had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They blew past the Spartans 13-1. 13 seems to be a good number for the Riverhawks as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Coxsackie-Athens also got a great performance from CJ VanAlphen as he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Logan Weinstein, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Andrew Sager was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Coxsackie-Athens pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hudson, their record is now 8-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hudson has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Coxsackie-Athens struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Hudson came up short against Coxsackie-Athens in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 6-2. Can the Bluehawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
