Hunter Salinas was his usual excellent self, rushing for 93 yards and two scores on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 253 yards and one TD. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in October of 2024. Hugo Ramos did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 88 receiving yards.
Nixon didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Joaquin Gallegos and David Cedillo. Cedillo also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with eight. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Winn sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 21-18 victory over Cigarroa on Friday. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Toros recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
