The Sargent Farmers won against the Creede Miners last Tuesday with 61 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Sargent really took it to Creede for the full four quarters, racking up a 61-15 win on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Sargent has managed all season.
Sargent was led to victory by Fernando Venzor and Lucas Garcia. Venzor scored 16 points, while Garcia scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Garcia scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Trenton Pasket, who scored nine points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Creede struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
The win was the third in a row for Sargent, bringing their record for this year to 7-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Creede, they bumped their record down to 1-7 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sargent will take on La Veta at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. La Veta will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 278th, while Sargent is ranked 79th). As for Creede, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Antonito at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Antonito is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
