The Hampton Christian Academy Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Walsingham Academy Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hampton Christian Academy will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
Hampton Christian Academy can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They really took it to Broadwater Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 57-8 win at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-8.
Mikaela Lee was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 25 points, nine rebounds, and ten steals. Lee is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Jayla Crosby was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Walsingham Academy suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 87-17 loss at the hands of Norfolk Christian. While losing is never fun, Walsingham Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 259th, while Norfolk Christian is ranked 29th).
Hampton Christian Academy pushed their record up to 14-0 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.6 points per game. As for Walsingham Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
Hampton Christian Academy took a serious blow against Walsingham Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 51-12. Can Hampton Christian Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
