The Cedar Grove-Belgium Rockets will venture away from home to take on the Oostburg Flying Dutchmen at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Oostburg took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Cedar Grove-Belgium, who comes in off a win.
On Monday, Cedar Grove-Belgium got the win against Sheboygan South by a conclusive 13-5.
Jorjie Mejchar made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. Mejchar was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Cedar Grove-Belgium let Lily Groth and Reese Rathke run wild. Groth got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Rathke went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Risch, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Cedar Grove-Belgium always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sheboygan South only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Oostburg's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Hilbert by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Flying Dutchmen have suffered since April 23, 2024.
Oostburg saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Layla Rambousek, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base was Rambousek's first of the season.
Cedar Grove-Belgium's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Oostburg, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Cedar Grove-Belgium might still be hurting after the 27-18 defeat they got from Oostburg in their previous meeting last Tuesday. Can the Rockets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
