On Monday, the Terry Sanford Bulldogs faced the Grace Christian Crusaders in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Terry Sanford was outmatched by Grace Christian at home and fell 85-44. Terry Sanford's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Breonna Roaf, who scored ten points along with five assists and two steals. Roaf is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Rebecca Kaba, who scored nine points.
Leading Grace Christian to victory were Icyss Storm and Sarah Strong. Storm scored 25 points along with nine rebounds, while Strong dropped a double-double on 23 points and 29 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Storm has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Miyah Campbell, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Terry Sanford's defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-4. As for Grace Christian, they pushed their record up to 18-0 with that win, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Terry Sanford won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against E.E. Smith at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully E.E. Smith focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Wednesday. Grace Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Wesleyan Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 16th. Wesleyan Christian Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
