The Maclay Marauders will head out on the road to challenge the Leon Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Leon took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Maclay, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, Maclay earned a 43-30 win over North Bay Haven Academy. The win was just what Maclay needed coming off of a 53-20 defeat in their prior contest.
It was another big night for Lauren Guyer, who scored 17 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Maclay's points. Another player making a difference was Molly McDonald, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Leon's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They suffered a tough 56-31 defeat at the hands of Godby. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Leon has suffered since December 13, 2023.
Leon's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Tanner Owens, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and four blocks, and Aneila Pierre who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds and four steals.
Maclay pushed their record up to 13-6 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Leon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.
Maclay opened the new year with a less-than-successful 42-35 loss to Leon. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Pierre, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 19 rebounds. Now that Maclay knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
