The Goleman Gators will head out on the road to face off against the Columbus Explorers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Goleman is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Goleman had to suffer through a rough 45-2 loss at the hands of Monsignor Pace. While losing is never fun, Goleman can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 249th, while Monsignor Pace is ranked 100th).
Meanwhile, Columbus strolled past Goleman with points to spare two weeks ago, taking the game 24-6.
Columbus' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Edward Bandy led the charge by rushing for 88 yards, while also catching a touchdown. Benjamin Blackburn was in the mix as well, providing Columbus with two touchdowns.
Monsignor Pace's victory bumped their season record to 6-4 while Goleman's loss dropped theirs to 4-5.
Things could have been worse for Goleman, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 24-6 loss to Columbus in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can Goleman avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
