Panguitch is on an eight-game streak of home wins, while Wayne is on a ten-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The two teams will face off at 4:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. Panguitch is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.1 points per game this season.
Panguitch barely beat Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bobcats breezed past the Buffalos to the tune of 54-27 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Bobcats have posted against the Buffalos since February 16, 2024.
Panguitch got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lillee Torgersen out in front who shot 75% from the field on her way to 12 points in addition to four steals and three blocks. The last time Torgersen's field goal percentage was this high was back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayt Miller, who went 5-for-12 en route to 15 points.
Panguitch was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They are 14-2 when they've passed the ball that well.
Meanwhile, Wayne didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Piute on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 51-46 victory.
Panguitch better keep an eye on AJ VanDyke. She was instrumental in Wayne's win, shooting 55% from the field to rack up 30 points and five boards. VanDyke's big performance that afternoon made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Timber Wood, who went 5-for-9 on her way to 10 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Panguitch's win bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Wayne, their victory bumped their record up to 18-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Panguitch has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.6 boards per game. However, it's not like Wayne struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Panguitch lost to Wayne at home by a decisive 52-37 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2025. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of VanDyke, who almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine boards. Now that the Bobcats know the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
