The Octorara Area Braves are taking a road trip to challenge the Annville-Cleona Dutchmen at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Octorara Area will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
On Tuesday, Octorara Area got the win against Garden Spot by a conclusive 20-5. Considering the Braves have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Octorara Area got a massive performance out of Presley Lazos, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Delaney Amole, who scored four runs while going 2-for-4.
Octorara Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .559 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Annville-Cleona unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of Lancaster Catholic by a score of 10-8.
Danika Setlock made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Breelyn Pulaski was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Octorara Area pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Annville-Cleona, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-2.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Octorara Area has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .479. However, it's not like Annville-Cleona struggles in that department as they've averaged .502. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Octorara Area suffered a grim 31-20 defeat to Annville-Cleona when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Can the Braves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
