After losing to the Austin Maroons the last time they met, the Hutto Hippos decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Hutto came out on top against Austin by a score of 43-35 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Hutto.
Hutto was led to victory by Jacob Bell and Zachary Hicks. Bell scored five points along with five assists and five rebounds, while Hicks scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. Bell continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Byron Piper was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Hutto has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season. As for Austin, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hutto will take on Copperas Cove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Copperas Cove will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 762nd, while Hutto is ranked 279th). Austin and Lake Travis will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lake Travis is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
