Not much got past Isabelle Horvath, who gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Decatur off the board. Horvath has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Bangor secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Emily Wisniewski, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.
11 must be Cassopolis' lucky number: they beat White Pigeon with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Rangers blew past the Chiefs 11-0. The result was nothing new for the Rangers, who have now won six contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Cheyenne Redmond was incredible, going 2-for-3 with six RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those doubles were her first of the season. Rilyn Omen was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI.
Cassopolis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .538 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Cassopolis' win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Bangor, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bangor has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cassopolis struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
