Monument Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight  loss. They fell victim to a  rough 9-1 defeat at the hands of the St. Johns Redskins. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Monument Valley of the  16-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in April of 2019.
  Davin Salt was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He  tossed six innings while giving up just two earned  (and seven unearned) runs off   seven  hits (he also didn't allow any  walks). Salt was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-3 with a  triple and a  run.
 Like Monument Valley, St. Johns also got a great game from a two-way player:  Ethan Skousen. Throwing,  Skousen   tossed  an inning while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits (he also didn't allow any  walks). Meanwhile,  Clance Wiltbank   struck out 14 batters over  six innings while giving up just one earned run off   two  hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. At the plate,  Skousen  scored two  runs while going 2-for-4, while  Wiltbank  scored two  runs and  stole three bases while going 1-for-4.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Everett McFee, who  went 2-for-3 with two  RBI and a  double. The team also got some help courtesy of  T Platt, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 1-for-4.
 Monument Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for St. Johns, the  victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-5.
 Monument Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Tuba City at 3:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. As for St. Johns, they will head out on the road to  square off against  Morenci at 1:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
