Baxter Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 60-52 loss to the Girard Trojans. One positive for the Lions, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Baxter Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Girard, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Baxter Springs Lions take on the St. Mary's-Colgan Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Girard, they will face off against Columbus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
