Monticello took a eight-run  defeat the last time they faced off against Charlottesville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  9-8  victory over the Black Knights  on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
 Bryson Jackson was  excellent,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
 Jackson wasn't the only one making solid contact: Monticello  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 11  hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their  hit total in four consecutive  matches.
Monticello's record now sits at 4-6. As for Charlottesville, their loss  ended  a  four-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 5-2.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monticello will venture away from home to  challenge Western Albemarle  at 6:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Charlottesville, they will head out to  face off against Staunton  at 5:30  p.m.  on Monday.
