The Dawson Eagles will take on the Manvel Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Manvel will be up against a hot Dawson team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Eagles claimed a resounding 42-7 win over Alvin. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 648th) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Luke Brown
| 10/24/25 @ Alvin | 200 |
| 08/28/25 @ Bridgeland | 188 |
| 10/17/25 vs Sam Rayburn | 164 |
| 10/03/25 vs Pearland | 150 |
| 09/19/25 vs Pasadena Memorial | 147 |
Dawson's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Brown, who threw for 200 yards and one TD on only 11 passes, and also punched in a pair of touchdowns on the ground. Those 200 passing yards gave Brown a new career-high. Another back making a difference was Evan Delucia, who rushed for 124 yards and one score.
Dawson's run defense was locked in: Alvin could only muster 2.5 yards per carry. The Eagles' run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.53 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 11.03 on average over their last five games.
Meanwhile, while Manvel put up plenty of points last Friday, the same can't be said for Alvin. The Mavericks blew past the Yellowjackets, posting a 55-0 win.
Dawson better keep an eye on Cam Renfro. He was instrumental in Manvel's win, rushing for 94 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also throwing for 146 yards and two TDs. Renfro also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Mavericks are undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise. Eric Mosley III was another key back, gaining 91 total yards and a touchdown.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Manvel, racking up 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of (Greedy) Karnell James Jr, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Manvel's defense made their presence known, laying out Anthony Desanto four times. Kevin Tatum was especially locked on to Alvin's QB and sacked him twice.
Dawson's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Manvel, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Dawson has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 163.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Manvel struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 237.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Dawson was dealt a bruising 48-7 defeat at the hands of Manvel when the teams last played back in November of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Renfro, who rushed for 115 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries, and also threw for 273 yards and three TDs on only 19 passes. Now that the Eagles know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
