The Valley Central Vikings will take on the Warwick Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Valley Central 3.9, Warwick 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Valley Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Washingtonville 18-6 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won five contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Emily Sharpe made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Valley Central got a massive performance out of Adrianna Ferraro, who went 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most hits Ferraro has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emily Smit, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs.
Valley Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .463. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Warwick waltzed into their match on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Gladiators by a score of 6-2.
Meghan Tennant spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.
At the plate, Camryn Moore was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-2. Those home runs marked the first that she has launched this season. Eva Garofalo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.
Valley Central's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average this season. As for Warwick, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both Valley Central and Warwick just can't seem to miss. The Vikings have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Warwick struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
