Softball Recap: Westminster Academy Finds Playoff Glory Versus Mater Bay Academy

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Westminster Academy had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They never let the Mater Bay Academy Rays get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by eight runs or more this season.

Dianna Montidoro was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Camy Lau, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Westminster Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matches.

Westminster Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Mater Bay Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season.

Westminster Academy has already played their next matchup, a 7-0 defeat against Miami Christian on the 13th. Mater Bay Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
