Whitesboro is a perfect 10-0 against Rome Free Academy since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Warriors will face off against the Black Knights at 4:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Last Monday, Whitesboro got the win against Proctor by a conclusive 13-3. Fans of the Warriors have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Meanwhile, while Rome Free Academy put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Proctor. The Black Knights blew past the Raiders 18-0.
Madison Safin and Sophia Tosti made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Safin tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Tosti struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Safin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Safin went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Tosti went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those doubles were Tosti's first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Haylee Bostwick, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kenidee Campbell, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Rome Free Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .536. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Whitesboro's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Rome Free Academy, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 4-2.
Whitesboro was able to grind out a solid win over Rome Free Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 5-2. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Black Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
