The Wellpinit Redskins came tearing into Wednesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame by a score of 70-57. Given Wellpinit's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while the Knights are ranked 306th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame saw an underclassman step up: Annelise Curran scored 38 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. That was a full 66.7% of Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Naomi Hartman, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Wellpinit pushed their record up to 13-6 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.4 points per game. As for Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.
