Baseball Game Preview: Jefferson Eagles vs. Brodhead/Juda Cardinals

Jefferson has gone 8-1-1 against Brodhead/Juda recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Cardinals at 4:45 p.m. Jefferson will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

On Thursday, Jefferson got the win against Monroe by a conclusive 11-1. The Eagles have beaten the Cheesemakers the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Cheesemakers has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, Brodhead/Juda entered their tilt with Evansville on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 win over the Blue Devils.

Brooks Malkow tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

At the plate, David Masloske was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Tyrin Foster was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Brodhead/Juda always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Jefferson's record is now 12-5. As for Brodhead/Juda, their record now sits at 9-5.

Jefferson took their victory against Brodhead/Juda when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
