The Metuchen Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the J.P. Stevens Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Metuchen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, it was a hard-fought match, but Metuchen had to settle for a 44-42 defeat against the Chiefs.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jason Woods, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Smith, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, J.P. Stevens had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against East Brunswick on Saturday as J.P. Stevens made off with a 57-34 victory. The win was just what J.P. Stevens needed coming off of a 85-52 loss in their prior contest.
Metuchen's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for J.P. Stevens, their victory bumped their record up to 9-13.
Metuchen might still be hurting after the 58-37 loss they got from the Hawks in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Metuchen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
