The Immokalee Indians will venture away from home to square off against the Moore Haven Terriers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Immokalee's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Clewiston as they made off with a 15-0 victory. 15 seems to be a good number for the Indians as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Jaylynn Rodriguez was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rodriguez was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February of 2024.
In other batting news, Immokalee let Leyah Rodriguez and Remey Rodriguez run wild. Leyah scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while Remey scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs Remey has posted since back in March. Madison Silguero also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Immokalee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clewiston didn't got any hits.
Meanwhile, Moore Haven won against Gateway on Thursday with 18 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. Everything went the Terriers' way against Glades Day as they made off with an 18-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Terriers, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Preslynn Baker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
In other batting news, Brooklyn Sergent and Khloe Desroche did most of the damage at the plate: Sergent scored three runs while going 3-for-3, while Desroche scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. Truley Osceola was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Moore Haven is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Immokalee, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-14.
Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Immokalee has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .459. However, it's not like Moore Haven struggles in that department as they've averaged .473. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Immokalee came up short against Moore Haven when the teams last played back in March, falling 9-5. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
