3A West Valley recap Oct. 9, 2012
Sheridan/Sheridan Japanese was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to first in 3A West Valley. Earlier in the week, the Spartans defeated Chemawa Indian 47-12.
Dayton extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Colton, 48-17. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Willamina's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Trevor Hunt threw for 40 yards and Casey Davis had 25 yards receiving. On the ground Tyson Jahn chipped in 227 yards. Edwin Villalobos helped Willamina's passing attack out by catching one ball for 15 yards.
Willamina's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bulldogs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Hunt has thrown for 341 yards and four touchdowns this season, while Travis Kurz has eight catches for 129 yards. Jahn leads the league in rushing with 549 yards.
A big matchup in 3A West Valley this week will be when Dayton takes on Horizon Christian. At the moment, Brodie Unger's team is in second, while the Hawks are in fourth.
Sheridan/Sheridan Japanese took down the Braves 47-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.
