5A West recap November 19, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 5A West this week, Alma beat Beebe 49-23. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Airedales.
Alma was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping the Badgers. Doug Loughridge's team came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.
Evan Burris threw for 202 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Rayshod Criswell made the biggest impact on defense this week as Morrilton defeated Nettleton. The 5-foot-9 senior nabbed 1 interception and recorded 1 fumble.
Burris put up the best numbers through the air as the Airedales bested Beebe. Burris' favorite target this week was Thomas Hall, who caught 3 passes for 99 yards.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Criswell. The Morrilton star has 75 catches for 1,072 yards.
So far this year, Will Drewry has thrown for 1,801 yards with 20 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.
Malachi White of the Alma is only 4 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 200 carries White has accumulated 996 yard this year.
He has recorded 55 catches for 933 yards this year.
Greenbrier lost to Batesville 48-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
