Newsome is 9-1 against Durant since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. Newsome will face off against Durant at 7:00 p.m. Newsome will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
The home team had come away the winner the last six times Newsome and Plant had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Newsome came out on top against Plant by a score of 9-5 on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Wolves have beaten the Panthers on their field since March 23, 2021.
Allyson Conner tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Arriana N Williams was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-3. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Ashley Nordberg was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Newsome kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Durant didn't have quite enough to beat Bloomingdale on Tuesday and fell 5-3. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Bulls recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
Durant saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lennox Ullrich, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Newsome pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Durant, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Both Newsome and Durant just can't seem to miss. Newsome has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Durant struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Newsome couldn't quite finish off Durant in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can Newsome avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
