Basketball Recap: Haynes Academy Gets the Win

Haynes Academy proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 29) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Jefferson RISE Charter 60-58. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Haynes Academy has posted since January 6th.

Despite the loss, Jefferson RISE Charter still got an impressive performance from Aaron Richardson, who went 8-for-10 from beyond the arc en route to 34 points. The dominant performance also gave Richardson a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (80%). Joshua Wilkins was another key player, going 5-for-12 on his way to 12 points along with five boards and four steals.

Haynes Academy's victory bumped their record up to 11-19. As for Jefferson RISE Charter, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-18.

Haynes Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 57-46 loss against Pearl River on the 10th. Jefferson RISE Charter has also already played their next game (against Patrick Taylor Science & Tech Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
