The Lamar Raiders will face off against the Hartfield Academy Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lamar will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.
Lamar came out on top against Southern Academy on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Raiders took their contest against the Cougars 6-1.
Brody Mayatt was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Walker Mims, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Lamar hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern Academy struck out nine times.
Meanwhile, Hartfield Academy got themselves on the board against Heritage Academy on Thursday, but Heritage Academy never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Patriots. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won 12 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Aden Bell tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Taylor Latham, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025. Grayson Vance was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Hartfield Academy's victory bumped their record up to 17-6-2. As for Lamar, their win bumped their record up to 21-1.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lamar has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .506. However, it's not like Hartfield Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .457. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lamar came out on top in a nail-biter against Hartfield Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2020, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
