Laurel-Concord-Coleridge easily dispatched Lutheran-Northeast last Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Drey Puppe and Tanner Thompson certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Puppe rushed for 111 yards and two scores, while Thompson rushed for 53 yards and one touchdown. Puppe is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Puppe picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Leading Elkhorn Valley to victory were Logan Black and Jarett Werner. Black picked up 160 receiving yards and three TDs, while Werner threw for 203 yards and four touchdowns. Black showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 54 yards.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Elkhorn Valley, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
