Lewiston is 2-7 against Coeur d'Alene since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lewiston Bengals will head out on the road to face off against the Coeur d'Alene Vikings at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Idaho (Lewiston is ranked 33rd, while Coeur d'Alene is ranked 12th).
The third road game was the charm for Lewiston, as they earned their first road win of the season. They strolled past Lake City with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 22-6. The victory was just what Lewiston needed coming off of a 42-21 loss in their prior match.
Meanwhile, Coeur d'Alene had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 34-21 win over Post Falls. Coeur d'Alene pushed the score to 28-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Post Falls cut but never quite recovered from.
Coeur d'Alene found their leader in underclassman Caden Symons, who threw for 154 yards and three touchdowns. Kolbe Coey made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Their wins bumped Lewiston to 4-4 and Coeur d'Alene to 6-2.
Everything came up roses for Lewiston against Coeur d'Alene in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 40-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lewiston since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
