Elbert County and North Oconee are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Elbert County Blue Devils will be home for the holidays to greet the North Oconee Titans at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Elbert County can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They snuck past Hart County with a 65-60 win. The win was just what Elbert County needed coming off of a 85-53 defeat in their prior matchup.
Grady Jones was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Elbert County's points. Another player making a difference was Landon Hill, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, North Oconee had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They took down Jonesboro 75-59.
Elbert County's win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-7. As for North Oconee, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.
