The Willis Wildkats will be taking part in a tournament against the Summer Creek Bulldogs at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Summer Creek will be up against a hot Willis squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Willis blew past Caney Creek 12-2 on Monday.
Hadley Lebow was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Lebow was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Sydney Prihoda was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Josie Foxworth was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, Summer Creek put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by an 11-2 margin over Dripping Springs. Considering the Bulldogs have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Cali Chapman, who went a perfect3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Sophia Ramos also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Summer Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .517 or higher in four consecutive games.
Willis pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs over those games. As for Summer Creek, their record is now 5-0.
Willis skirted past Summer Creek 3-2 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Does Willis have another victory up their sleeve, or will Summer Creek turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
