The Silverado Skyhawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. The contest between Silverado and Sierra Vista wasn't particularly close, with Silverado falling 48-33. Silverado found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 19 to 8 on offense.
Several Skyhawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kingsley Jones, who scored eight points along with 14 rebounds. Jones is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. Kaitlyn Jack-keller was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Sierra Vista's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Donnayja Gibson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Gibson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Arlene Olivraes, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Silverado's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Sierra Vista, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 14-5.
Silverado will head out on the road to challenge Western at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Western focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Friday. As for Sierra Vista, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Rancho at 6:30 p.m.
