The Cross County Cougars entered their tilt with the Osceola Bulldogs with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Cross County rang in the new year with a 57-48 victory over Osceola on Tuesday. For Cross County, this counts as revenge for the 55-47 loss Osceola walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cross County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Langdon Arbuck, who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Arbuck scored 15 or more points. Sawyer Anderson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Osceola lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kale Gustafson. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 33 points and ten rebounds. Gustafson scored a full 68.8% of Osceola's points, the 11th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Boston Hinkle, who scored five points.
Cross County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Osceola, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cross County will square off against Sutton at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Osceola will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Cornerstone Christian School at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. Cornerstone Christian School is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
