Metlakatla has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. The Metlakatla Chiefs and the Haines Glacier Bears will face off on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Metlakatla's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
Last Saturday, Metlakatla didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Wrangell, but they still walked away with a 56-50 win.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Haines, who are still winless after their sixth match. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 54-53 to Craig.
Metlakatla's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Haines, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
Everything came up roses for Metlakatla against Haines in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 as the team secured a 76-45 victory. Will Metlakatla repeat their success, or does Haines have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
