The Orem Tigers will challenge the Uintah Utes at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Orem will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Orem proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 23) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Timpanogos 5-4.
Kiley Hoshnic spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on ten hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, Sadie Groneman was incredible, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Uintah faced Grantsville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Utes fell just short of the Cowboys by a score of 9-8. The Utes haven't had much luck with the Cowboys recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Uintah also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Lynlee Hall gave up three earned (and six unearned) runs on six hits.
At the plate, Kayla Olson and Kenadee Mcallister stepped up to the plate in a big way. Olson went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs, while Mcallister got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. Olson is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Hannah Morrow was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.
Orem pushed their record up to 14-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Uintah, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Orem hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .363. However, it's not like Uintah struggles in that department as they've averaged .368. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Orem skirted past Uintah 11-9 in their previous matchup back in March. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Utes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
