Basketball Recap: Conestoga Christian's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

If Lititz Christian wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Conestoga Christian, they should've done a better job of containing Josh Boutaugh. The Conestoga Christian Cougars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 64-61 victory over the Lititz Christian Eagles on Wednesday thanks in part to Boutaugh, who went 14 of 19 on his way to 34 points along with six steals and five rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Conestoga Christian's points.

Another player making a difference was Micah Watkins, who posted six points. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in boards (three).

When it comes to explaining why Lititz Christian lost, don't look at Jack Kriebel. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 15 en route to 22 points and eight rebounds. That was a full 36.1% of Lititz Christian's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Xavier Titter was another key player, putting up six points and six boards.

Conestoga Christian moved to 7-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Lititz Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Conestoga Christian will venture away from home to face off against Linville Hill at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Lititz Christian has already played their next game (against Covenant Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
