The Oceanside Mariners will head out on the road to face off against the Medomak Valley Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Oceanside is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Oceanside fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Belfast on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 5-4. The Mariners have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Joey Brown was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Medomak Valley faced Yarmouth in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Panthers came out on top against the Clippers by a score of 6-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won four matches in a row.

Medomak Valley's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Porter Gahagan, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Gahagan a new career-high. Wyatt Simmons was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Medomak Valley pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Oceanside, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Oceanside has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Medomak Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Oceanside skirted past Medomak Valley 3-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Mariners have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
