Avon Park is 0-10 against LaBelle since February of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Red Devils will host the Cowboys/Cowgirls at 7:30 p.m. Avon Park is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Avon Park is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since March 6th on Monday. They lost 18-6 to Fort Meade. The Red Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Kinley DeLoach made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Makayla Wells, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, LaBelle got themselves on the board against Moore Haven on Wednesday, but Moore Haven never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Terriers with a sharp 10-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cowboys/Cowgirls.
Abby Hicks made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Hicks was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Emorie Anderson was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Brooke Black was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
LaBelle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Moore Haven only posted an OBP of .200.
LaBelle's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Avon Park, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
Avon Park's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Red Devils have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for LaBelle, though, as they've been averaging only 1.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Avon Park continue to outrun the ball?
Avon Park couldn't quite finish off LaBelle when the teams last played back in March and fell 4-2. Will the Red Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
