The Ellis Railroaders lost against the Oakley Plainsmen back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Ellis took a 48-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oakley.
Despite the defeat, Ellis saw an underclassman step up: Aiden Aschenbrenner scored 15 points along with five steals. Aschenbrenner hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. Jaren Frickey was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Ellis' defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Oakley, their victory bumped their record up to 5-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ellis will square off against Hoxie at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Ellis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Friday. As for Oakley, they will head out on the road to square off against Quinter at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Quinter is coming into the match with six straight wins at home, so Oakley is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
