The Simmons Blue Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Stringer Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Simmons' favor as the team sits on 11 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Stringer has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Simmons put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. Everything went their way against West Bolivar as Simmons made off with a 44-22 victory. Given Simmons' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 94th, while West Bolivar is ranked 258th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Stringer was beaten by Mount Olive 42-6 last Thursday.
Despite the loss, Stringer got a solid performance out of Ashton Cook, who rushed for 57 yards and a touchdown on only six carries. Cook was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards.
Simmons' victory bumped their season record to 9-0 while Stringer's loss dropped theirs to 2-7.
