West Brunswick is 0-10 against Laney since March of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The West Brunswick Trojans will host the Laney Buccaneers at 6:30 p.m. West Brunswick is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
West Brunswick barely beat Clinton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. West Brunswick put the hurt on Clinton with a sharp 17-2 win on Friday. The match marked the Trojans' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Olivia Brown made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Brooklyn Somers and Kady Long did most of the damage at the plate: Somers went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs, while Long went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. That home run was Somers' first of the season. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Brown, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
West Brunswick always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Laney came up short against South Central on Tuesday and fell 9-6. The loss was the Buccaneers' first of the season.
Laney saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Allyson Brehmer, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave Brehmer a new career-high.
Laney's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.6 runs. As for West Brunswick, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
Laney's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. West Brunswick has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Laney, though, as they've been averaging only 3.7 strikeouts. Will West Brunswick keep running through batters, or will Laney buck the trend?
West Brunswick might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from Laney in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can West Brunswick avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
