In what's become a running theme this season, the Ponchatoula Green Wave gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. They blew past Peabody 86-57 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Ponchatoula has posted since January 9th.
When it comes to explaining why Peabody lost, one person who can't be blamed is Justin Burns. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Burns has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rashad Mitchell, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Ponchatoula has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. As for Peabody, their defeat dropped their record down to 23-5.
Ponchatoula and Slidell will face off at 7:15 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Slidell comes in on 13 and Ponchatoula on four. As for Peabody, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Franklin Parish at 7:00 p.m. Franklin Parish will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Peabody is ranked third).
