MAIS AA District 2 recap September 17, 2013
Tri-County Academy extended the longest winning streak in MAIS AA District 2 this week by beating East Rankin Academy, 28-10. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Rebels.
Canton Academy took down Newton County Academy 41-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kraft McLean ran for 129 yards and caught 2 passes for 28 yards during the win.
Lafayette Wales was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 138 yards on 13 carries as the Panthers topped the Generals.
Riley Pierce put up the best numbers through the air as Oak Hill Academy topped Winston Academy. He finished with 2 completions for 27 yards.
Wales was a passing and rushing force as Canton Academy topped Newton County Academy.
McLean was the best wideout in the league this week as Ron Jurney's team bested the Generals.
The Raiders' Pierce and Bradley Allen have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading MAIS AA District 2 in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback Pierce has thrown for 239 yards this season, while Allen has 6 catches for 85 yards. The Panthers' Wales leads the league in rushing yards with 493.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Tri-County Academy takes on Leake Academy. At the moment, David Blount's team is in first, while the Rebels are in fourth.
Oak Hill Academy and the Patriots played the closest game in the league this week, with Oak Hill Academy eventually emerging with a 20-15 victory. Drew Riley ran for 76 yards and caught 1 passes for 16 yards in the win.
