Claremore has gone a perfect 7-0 against Nathan Hale recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Zebras will welcome the Rangers at 7:00 p.m. Claremore is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
If Nathan Hale heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Claremore took over last week. The Zebras snuck past Tahlequah with a 21-17 win on Friday.
Cecil Garrett had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 136 yards and one touchdown. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 64 yards.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nathan Hale). They breezed past Memorial to the tune of 64-6 on Thursday. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 51-0.
Claremore better keep an eye on Jordan Deroin. He was instrumental in Nathan Hale's win, throwing for 305 yards and five TDs while picking up 11.7 yards per attempt, and also punching in one score on the ground. Another back making a difference was Cameron Turner, who gained 201 total yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Nathan Hale was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 224 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 186 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.
Nathan Hale didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Leeroy Wells and London Hunt. Wells got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Claremore's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Nathan Hale, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Claremore has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 208 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Nathan Hale struggles in that department as they've been averaging 208.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Claremore took their victory against Nathan Hale when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 47-21 score. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Rangers' Deon Franklin, who picked up 132 receiving yards and one touchdown. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Zebras to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
