Marshall Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malia Taylor, who scored 16 points along with two steals. That was a full 69.6% of Marshall Academy's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Amiah Poindexter, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Marshall Academy's loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-11. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.6 points per game. As for Calhoun Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Marshall Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Tournament Team on March 4th. As for Calhoun Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Factoryville Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Factoryville Christian will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Calhoun Christian surely won't give up without a fight.
