The Guadalupe Centers Aztecs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 52-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Frontier STEM. Guadalupe Centers lost against Frontier STEM in their previous head to head back in December of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 62-36 score last time.
Several Aztecs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Anthony Torres, who scored 23 points along with five assists and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Torres has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Gonzalez Mendoza, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Guadalupe Centers' loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Frontier STEM, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-7.
Guadalupe Centers will take on Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. Frontier STEM will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Training Center Christian at 5:00 p.m. on January 30th. Training Center Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
