Davis has put up big numbers in Providence Day's 2-0 start. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound senior completed 24 of 35 pass attempts for 499 yards and five touchdowns in the season opener, a 42-35 win over Northwestern (Rock Hill, S.C.). 247Sports rates Davis as the No. 7 quarterback prospect in the Class of 2024 and the No. 76 prospect overall. He committed to Michigan in March over 31 other offers.
As a junior, Davis threw for 3,425 yards and 43 touchdowns against just six interceptions this season, leading Providence Day to a 12-1 record and the NCISAA Division I state title.
While Davis will get the headlines heading into Friday, Charlotte Catholic won't be a pushover. The Cougars are 2-0 with dominant wins over South Mecklenburg (49-16) and Northern Durham (49-0). Notre Dame-bound tight end
Jack Larsen has four touchdown receptions already this season.
The two teams went to the wire last year before Providence Day prevailed 21-20.
